Regardless of whether one is an avid follower of the occult, an Irishman or woman, a Christian, a Protestant, a layman, or an educated scholar, one is sure to find enjoyment within the works of William Butler Yeats. His passion has again added to his popularity and his status among the greats. One can see that Yeats has shown his passion throughout his career. His assessment was that there was a lack of passion in the writings of the poets and the theologians of that time. He appears to be disquieted by the overall complacency of the world’s literary figures during his time. William Butler Yeats continuously shows that there needs to be a drive to the intellectual as well as the creative. He mentions that there is a stirring, but at the same time there is a warning or death (the circling birds) being near. The second coming seems to relate to a renewed birth of ideas and in those ideas which shaped the great unexplained objects within our world (in this case the sphinx). Could this poem as well as the other works of such nature be attributed to his father’s efforts to distance himself from his Protestant history? Rather, the Bethlehem in the poem leaves the reader with an eerie sense that the beast is on its way to consume the Christ child. The reference to Bethlehem should not be seen as an attempt to make this into something for Christian theology and debate. Whether such references were intended or are similarities only, one can see that there is a very close association between these works. Harold Bloom, an acclaimed critic as well as a professor at Yale University, mentions that William Butler Yeats’s The Second Coming contains references to Percy Bysshe Shelley’s Ozymandias as well as Blake’s The Book of Urizen. With such knowledge, one should approach the poem. More interesting is that Yeats made is transparently clear that he was not a Christian and that he did not believe in Jesus’s presence on the earth. One will find that it is quite apart from the general Christian association of the seconding coming. Originally entitled “The Second Birth”, the poem is clearly an apocalyptic poem. However, it is generally consented that The Second Coming is such. Again, it would be apparent that his training at the Dublin School of Art played a great deal in establishing his world perspective and his diversity within his writing.Ī sound argument can be made as to the most popular of Yeats’s poems. This merger between those things of the Christian faith as well as those of the secular faith shows that Yeats embraced the world in all of its aspects. True, both of these have played a critical part in the popularity of William Yeats’s works, but so has his family Protestant clergyman history (although this family history was ceased with his father John Yeats). One cannot put the weight of his work on either his heritage or in his occultist practices. In The Land of Heart’s Desire one will see the following and much quoted lines. His references to ghosts, demons, fairies and the like have encouraged both young and old readers to embrace the fanciful. Such a practice cannot be taken as moot point when considering the influences for Yeats’s writing. In his personal life, Yeats’s wife acted as his medium summoning spirits a recorded 450 times. Equally so, his ties to the occult can be seen throughout his work (maybe more dominantly so). Yes, his Irish heritage can be seen in his work, especially in poems such as An Irish Airman Sees His Death or I AM of Ireland which bears the cultural reference. It can be definitively stated that there is not a specific tangent from which his poetry hangs. Perhaps his training as a painter influenced his ability to see and convey the world in more than one color. What makes William Butler Yeats a great poet is that he encompasses diversified content. Much influenced by his Irish roots and his zeal towards the occultist practices, his works have captivated readers and will continue to do so for years to come. His literary works earned him the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1923. During his time, his popularity was greater (arguably) than T.S. William Butler Yeats (1865-1939) is one of the most recognizable poets of all time. 11/15/2023 0 Comments Android multi tools v1 02b download![]() These are the all available options in Android Multi Tools and the details about each option are explained below.

The extra $15 over the standard Leatherman Skeletool gets you a 154CM steel knife blade that’s a wonder of ergonomics and durability, making the seven-tool CX less of a multitool and more of a “high-end pocket knife that happens to have pliers, a bit driver, and some other tools.” We’re recommending a premium version of the standard Skeletool because of its superior materials. The EDC king of the hill.įor preppers who want something more compact and discrete, we like the 4-inch, 5-ounce $90 Leatherman Skeletool CX. The knife on this multitool is so great, it's essentially a high-end pocket knife with 6 more tools rolled into it. But a saw blade and other less frequently used tools can add a meaningful amount of bulk, which causes some people to prefer slimmer, sawless multitools for EDC as a compliment to the full-sized tool kept in their emergency kits. Some people do EDC a full-sized product like the Wave+ or Charge+ TTi. One of the main attractions of a mulitool is that you get compact versions of two of our four core edged tools - a saw and a knife - in the same package. ![]() The 19-tool Charge+ adds a sharp hook for cutting straps to the back of the 420HC serrated saw blade, but otherwise the tool mix is the same as the Wave+. We like the titanium handle slabs for their combination of comfort, durability, and low weight (a little under half an ounce lighter than the Wave+). ![]() The 19-tool Charge+ TTi’s knife blade is made of a super steel, S30V, that you find on high-end custom folding knives. It won’t freak out your office mates if you pull out a multitool blade to open a package or use the screw bit to disassemble the crappy copy machine.Įverything that's awesome about the category-defining Wave+, but with a super steel knife blade and comfortable, lightweight Titanium handle scales.Ī worthy upgrade is the $195 Leatherman Charge+ TTi, Leatherman’s premium multitool offering that’s basically an upgraded version of the Wave+. ![]() Multitools are also great in urban or more sensitive settings because they’re a non-threatening way to carry a pocket knife. You’ll want to keep your multitool on your body as much as possible during an emergency - typically in a pocket or on a belt - because if you lose your bags, the multitool is one of the things you’ll miss the most. The best multitools are so handy that many people carry one every day (“EDC” for everyday carry) as their primary “I always have it no matter what” tool.Įven if you don’t EDC a multitool, you should have at least one in your home supplies and ideally another one in your emergency bags. Most of the best multitools in our review hold between 10 and 18 common tools, helping you with a wide range of survival and daily tasks such as: cutting boxes, fixing an engine, building a shelter, creating a trap, sharpening a knife, sparking a fire from a ferro rod, or removing a hot pot from a campfire. It’s hard to think of another prep that fits as much critical functionality into as small of a package as a great multitool, which is why it’s one of the four edged tools everyone should have. 11/15/2023 0 Comments Best minimalist laptop backpack![]() ![]() The trolley strap on the back is another nice feature for travel, allowing you to slide the bag onto your rolling suitcase easily. It's got a designated 15-inch laptop pocket on the front flap, making it easy to remove when going through TSA at the airport. ![]() We tested the generously sized bag, which measures 12 inches long by 7.25 inches deep by 17.5 inches tall and boasts a generous 27-liter volume capacity, and even when full, it remained lightweight and comfortable, which we loved. If you take public transportation to work or travel often, Everlane's ReNew Transit Backpack might be your best bet. Material: Water-repellent nylon or vegan leather | Size: 11.4 x 6.6 x 15.9 inches | Capacity: 18 liters | Compartments: Main, laptop, snap-on pouch | Pockets: 6 However, the Metro also has a trolley sleeve on the back, making it easy to slide onto the handle of a suitcase when traveling. The slim profile doesn't come with dedicated water bottle pockets. It's got a clamshell-style main compartment that opens entirely and lays flat like a suitcase, a 15-inch laptop sleeve, multiple internal pockets, and a snap-on front pouch, which we wish stayed more secure on the front of the pack. Measuring 11.4 inches long by 6.6 inches deep by 15.9 inches tall, this carrier has an 18-liter capacity for a decently roomy but streamlined look, which we love. While not waterproof, its water-repellent and scratch-resistant nylon exterior offers protection from rainfall and daily wear, and an interior privacy pocket does provide waterproofing for items you'd like to protect. We tested this modern, minimalist backpack which comes in nylon and fully vegan leather options and features vegan leather accents. If it's within your budget, the Monos Metro Backpack might be a worthwhile investment as your professional everyday bag. Material: Nylon | Size: 10.5 x 7.5 x 13.5 inches, 12 x 7.5 x 16 inches, 12.5 x 7.8 x 16.5 inches | Capacity: 18-27 liters | Compartments: Main, laptop | Pockets: 18 This backpack also has a media organizer with a designated phone pocket and a USB port for convenient charging on the go-but you have to supply the power bank. In total, you have 18 pockets to work with for all your items. This carrier has a padded sleeve for laptops up to 17 inches and a main compartment, plus multiple zipper pockets, two side pouches for water bottles or umbrellas, and several smaller pockets for objects like pens and keys. While it's not specifically weather-treated, its nylon material offers some inherent moisture resistance. This roomy bag comes in 14-inch, 15.6-inch, and 17-inch variations and has a capacity ranging from 18 liters to 27 liters. ![]() If you're looking for a more wallet-friendly option for your commute, consider the Lovevook Laptop Backpack. Material: Thermoplastic-coated polyester | Size: 11.8 x 4.7 x 18.9 inches | Capacity: 13 liters | Compartments: Main, laptop | Pockets: 2 We wish it were a little more affordable, but this is a quality option for work-and it comes with a two-year warranty. The urban-Scandinavian design features unisex sophistication and is available in several versatile hues ranging from black to taupe to deep olive. Like most Rains products, it's waterproof with a water column pressure of 8,000 millimeters, which means the thermoplastic-coated fabric could be submerged in 8 millimeters of liquid before anything seeps through. This satchel doesn't have a water bottle sleeve, but there's enough room to fit one in the main compartment. It's got one main compartment and a laptop sleeve that fits computers or tablets up to 15 inches (and potentially larger), plus one internal and one external zipper pocket. This slim and sleek carrier measures 11.8 inches wide by 4.7 inches deep by 18.9 inches tall and has a 13-liter capacity-plenty of room for a laptop and daily essentials. If we could only recommend one backpack for professional use, we'd have to go with Rains Backpack, which is waterproof, stylish, and spacious without being bulky.

It is the predominant dietary energy source of 17 countries in Asia and the Pacific, 9 countries in North and South America and 8 countries in Africa. The cultivation of rice ranks third in the production of agricultural commodity next to sugarcane and maize. Almost 95% of the rice production is done in Asian countries and about half of the world’s population consumes it. Consumption of rice is very high in developing countries and nations in Asia. Rice is a major cereal crop consumed as a staple food by over half of the world’s population. Thus, more focus on specialty rice and its by-products will not only save it from becoming extinct but also lead a step forward towards nutrition security of the country as they are abundant in vitamins, minerals and polyphenols. Rice bran, a by-product of the rice milling industry is under-utilised, is rich in dietary fibre which finds application in the development of functional foods and various other value-added products. The coloured rice, which usually gets its colour due to the deposition of anthocyanin pigments in the bran layer of the grain, is rich in phytochemicals and antioxidants. The nutritional profile of the specialty rice is high when compared to the white rice varieties. These include the coloured and aromatic rice varieties. Even if white rice is consumed by most people around the world, some specialty rice cultivars are also grown. Though almost 40,000 varieties of rice are said to exist, at present, only a few varieties are cultivated extensively, milled and polished. India stands second in the production of rice next to China. Rice is a major cereal food crop and staple food in most of the developing countries. 11/15/2023 0 Comments Unique benchmark testing![]() This problem isn’t unique to my school this test is HUGE, and more schools are using it every year. Most of them will do worse this time around, since it’s far from optimal testing conditions, so there will be a meeting in which we’re all reprimanded for not impressing the importance of this test on the kids. I’ll bribe the kids with snacks and frequent class breaks and a lack of homework, and somehow we’ll all survive. We’re not measuring your success here, we’re measuring the success of the teachers and the school, and we need you to perform in order to keep the doors open and the lights on. This test isn’t actually about showing what you’ve learned it’s about showing what we’ve taught. ![]() I Want to Say: It’s important for methat you do well on this. I Actually Say: It’s important that you do well on this. I’m Supposed to Say: It’s important that you do well on this. I could do better than that if I’d never met you, just by looking at your family’s annual income. I Want to Say: This test predicts whether you’ll pass state standardized testing with about 80% accuracy. But you have to take it anyway, so just try to prove you learned something, okay? ![]() Your grade in my class is a much better predictor of how you’ll do on standardized testing than the benchmark test. It’s going to make standardized testing so much easier for you! I’m Supposed to Say: This helps us determine which parts of the standardized test you’re ready for and where you need more work. I Want to Say: Benchmark testing is the reason we can’t do assemblies or watch the movie I’d planned or do any kind of research project or have class outside or do a host of other things, because once again testing is prioritized over instruction. You don’t have internet at home? Well…good luck. Nobody is allowed to use the internet during benchmark testing. I Actually Say: No, I’m sorry, you can’t use the classroom computers to research your social studies project. I’m Supposed to Say: This is a great opportunity to show what you know and demonstrate how much you’ve learned this year! Making you take hours more tests on top of final exams just two weeks after you finish state testing is brutal and morally reprehensible. I don’t think that educational abuse is actually a term people use, but it definitely applies to benchmark testing. I’ll make you a deal: if you’ll actually try on the benchmark test instead of blowing it off completely, I’ll give you a super easy final and no homework all week. I Actually Say: I know you’ve got final exams this week, and I know you’re basically tapped out for the year. Get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast the morning of the test! I’m Supposed to Say: It’s really important that you do your best on this. The scores have such a wide range that they’re basically meaningless, and even though we went through hours of training to interpret them, I don’t know a single teacher in the school who can tell you what these scores actually signify. I Want to Say: This test is not aligned to the same standards as our state standardized test, nor is it in the same format. I Actually Say: Oh, you got a 713 in math and an 841 in reading? Um, that’s…good? Maybe? I’m Supposed to Say: This test will really help us, guys! It’ll help your teachers determine what you’ve mastered and where you’re struggling, so we can make sure you’re learning exactly what you need to know. I’m trying to toe the party line, but I’m having trouble with this. Moreover, we’re doing this the last week of school, and we’re also required to give cumulative finals in all core areas. This, despite the fact that the assessment is seriously flawed, the standard deviation is huge, and generally speaking even the best teacher should expect about half her kids to do worse than they did in the last testing session. My school’s pretty anxious about benchmark scores, because they’re written into our charter and we are required to show improvement. Students all over the country will spend hours this month taking a norm-referenced, computer-based, adaptive “benchmark” test intended to show students’ progress in a variety of standards. With the school year moving toward the blessed, blessed end, everything is winding down…except testing. |
